Walkthrough of the Week: Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is part movie, part game. Like a movie, its focus is on character, story and theme. Like a game, players control characters and decide their fates.

Each year during the rainy season a serial killer kidnaps children. Their bodies are found a few days later. Next to them is an Origami figure. The cause of death is always the same: drowning in rainwater. The Origami Killer has struck again and four characters are on his trail: Ethan Mars is the father of the kidnapped boy, Madison Page is a photographer caught up in the case, Norman Jayden is an FBI agent assigned to the case, and Scott Shelby is a private investigator.

During the course of the game characters can die, but unlike most games the story will continue without them. The fate of the characters, including the fate of the kidnapped child, are determined by the actions of the player.

Heavy Rain has a large number of possible endings, and the game makes it easy to go back and replay sections so you can explore the different branches of the story. An easy way to track your progress in seeing major changes is through the game's trophy system.
